The Mythological Liquid
The Brief: Bottling the Storm Tormenta (Portuguese for “Storm”) approached me to develop an identity that captured the spirit of a garage band with the precision of a master brewer. They needed a brand that felt young, versatile, and unpolished—yet premium enough to dominate the craft beer shelf. The goal was to build a visual language that was as loud as a power chord but as crisp as a well-hopped ale.
The Signature: The Punk Kraken The central semiotic anchor is the Kraken. Usually a symbol of maritime dread, I gave this Norse beast a “street-art” makeover. Hand-drawn with a punk-pirate edge, the Kraken serves as the brand’s master stamp of approval—a recurring mythological signature that rises from the depths of the label to certify every brew.
The Craft: Metallic Ink & Hand-Rendered Souls To ensure the brand felt as artisanal as the liquid inside, I developed exclusive typography and hand-rendered illustrations for each product. This wasn’t about digital symmetry; it was about the “human mark.” We elevated the street-style grit using metallic inks and special spot colors, creating a tactile contrast: the raw energy of a tagged wall met with the sophisticated finish of a collector’s item.
Hoppy Day | The Sunny Sinister
A golden ale that speaks in puns. While “insiders” catch the linguistic wink between Happy and Hoppy (Lúpulo), the illustration does the heavy lifting. I chose a sinister yet harmless Scarecrow as the lead character. Set in a rural field—flanked by barley and hops—the hand-drawn calligraphy and metallic accents highlight the beer’s refreshing, golden frequency.

Hoppy Night | Urban Distortion
The dark, lupulated alter-ego to the Hoppy Day. To mirror the beer’s complexity, we traded the farm for the concrete jungle. The label features a skater navigating a midnight square—basketball courts, neon-lit bars, and tagged buildings. The use of special inks makes the “city lights” on the label pop, creating a visual equivalent of a late-night session in a city that never sleeps.

Wit Bear | The Tropical Displaced
A Belgian Witbier adapted for the heat (orange peel, coriander, wheat). The “nudge” here was the Polar Bear on Vacation. By placing an arctic beast on a sun-soaked Brazilian beach, we visually communicate the beer’s core promise: instant thermal relief. It maintains the “Tormenta” line-work while leaning into the playful absurdity that makes craft beer culture so engaging.

The Result: A Brand with an Edge
By balancing street-art grit with premium production finishes, we created an identity that stands out through personality, not just proximity. It’s a refined artwork in how typography and character design can turn a bottle into a cultural artifact.
